RBI invites Hindi originals on economics and finance under 2025-26 book scheme
The Reserve Bank of India has opened its 2025-26 scheme to encourage original Hindi books on economics, banking and finance. Eligible university professors can submit nominations by 31 August 2026, with three prizes of ₹1,25,000 each on offer.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced its **“Scheme for writing books originally in Hindi on Economics/Banking/Financial subjects”** for the year **2025-26**, aimed at encouraging original writing and research in **Banking Hindi**. The initiative supports authors who contribute high-quality, subject-focused books in Hindi—helping expand the availability of credible learning resources for students, researchers and practitioners who prefer Indian languages.
Under the scheme, the RBI will award **three prizes of ₹1,25,000 each** for books originally written in Hindi on topics related to **Economics, Banking and Finance**. By recognising original Hindi scholarship, the scheme aligns with broader efforts to strengthen knowledge creation in Indian languages, especially in fields that often remain dominated by English-language texts.
What the scheme offers The RBI’s scheme is designed to encourage **original writings and research**, with a clear focus on Hindi works that address core themes in economics, banking and finance. As per the RBI’s press release, the award structure includes:
- **Three prizes**, each worth **₹1,25,000**
- Awards for **books originally written in Hindi**
- Coverage of subject areas related to **Economics / Banking / Finance**
The RBI has indicated that further particulars are provided in an **annexure** linked to the scheme. Applicants and institutions may refer to that annexure for detailed conditions, documentation requirements and the prescribed format.
Who can apply and how to submit The scheme is open to **working and retired professors** from Indian universities that are **UGC-recognised**. The RBI also explicitly includes faculty ranks such as **Assistant Professor** and **Associate Professor**, widening the pool of eligible academic contributors.
Interested participants are required to submit their **nominations** along with **copies of the books** in the **prescribed proforma**. Submissions must be sent to:
**Chief General Manager** **Reserve Bank of India, Rajbhasha Department, Central Office** **C-9, 8th Floor, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai – 400 051**
The deadline set by the RBI is **August 31, 2026**, **before 5.00 PM**.
For academics and departments planning to apply, it may be useful to begin early—especially to ensure that nominations are compiled correctly and submitted in the required format. Universities can also encourage eligible faculty members (including retired faculty) to participate, as the scheme directly supports the development of domain-specific Hindi literature.
A constructive boost for Hindi knowledge in finance Economics and finance influence everyday decisions—from savings and credit to entrepreneurship and public policy—yet high-quality learning material in Indian languages is still growing. By incentivising original Hindi books in these areas, the RBI’s scheme can contribute to more accessible, classroom-ready and research-oriented resources.
Such initiatives can also help widen participation in financial studies and discourse by enabling learners to engage with complex concepts in a language they are comfortable with, while keeping academic rigour intact.
**Why it matters:** By rewarding original Hindi books on economics, banking and finance, the RBI’s scheme supports stronger knowledge creation in Indian languages and can make financial education more accessible for students, teachers and readers across India.
